My students need an electrophoresis lab station in order to learn real-world biology.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. L.'s classroom raised $525
This project is fully funded
In a rural high school of under 100 students, my biology students look at biological research and experimentation as something "other students" can do, instead of themselves.
These hardworking students have an excitement and interest for science and a lab of 1970s era equipment. Many say they are interested in forensics or other high-tech sciences, yet have no idea how any of it works. I would love to show them!
Electrophoresis is a current biological technology students should be exposed to in order to be able to transform their great potential into skills they can use in today's society. I am requesting a kit of basic, beginning electrophoresis equipment that will spark my students' imaginations. Their final project, as a result of this unit, will be to explore and identify members of a fictitious family tree through real-life DNA processing.
I need your help! Many of my students leave for college, only to return a year or two later, overwhelmed by what they have never been exposed to. These great kids have so much potential, but need to be shown, here at their own school, what equipment and techniques are used by both other schools and real-world labs.
