My Students
Do you remember how overwhelming it was when you were younger to try and find a non fiction book in the library amongst all of the endless titles that were for the "older kids"?
The Pk -5 students are smart, diverse, and motivated!
They love learning, creating, inventing, and doing new things. They love being active participants in the education process. This is a take charge group of kiddos who are ready and able to do exciting and dynamic projects. They LOVE to learn new things which is great because the common core focuses on more non fiction texts. In addition, we are starting the STEM school process so we have a big focus on science, technology, engineering, and math books for the library!
My Project
Our library has limited shelf space for our books. To complicate things further, it is very hard for the youngest kids to find the non fiction books that are appropriate for their age...this is because in any given non fiction section, books for younger kids are sprinkled in here and there and so when the students want to simply browse the shelves to find something of interest, they tend to become discouraged and overwhelmed with their limited success in finding books that interest them.
By acquiring the Smith System Everything Cart for our Pk-2 non fiction books, you will be helping my students become much smarter, much faster!!!
This is such a simple solution to a big problem and YOU will be helping to solve it. By enabling young students to walk up to the Everything cart, browse it, and locate the non fiction book of their choice you are putting knowledge right into their little hands! I cannot think of a better way to help young people.
