Young Readers Love Magazines Too!

My students need weekly scholastic magazines in order to learn about the world in an exciting new way!

My Students

My kindergartners are enrolled in a dual-language program. They spend half their time learning in my classroom in English and then go to my teaching partners classroom where they continue learning in French. We have a class full of students from different backgrounds and different areas, who speak a variety of different languages at home.

My students are a curious and active bunch who are anxious to learn as much as possible every day!

They gobble up material as fast as I can give it to them and are always looking for more. My students love completing projects and playing games to help them learn and use their new skills. They are working together to become active members of our school community!

My Project

Last year, with another project for games that have filled my classroom with so much joy and excitement around the world of reading, I received a sample size number of Scholastic Classroom Magazines. I wasn't sure how useful they would be in the classroom or how realistic they would be given the short amount of time I see my students, but I have to say I was really impressed with how well the work into our curriculum. Already the students are so engaged and enthusiastic about reading our classroom magazines.

During free play time in the classroom, children are coming up to me and asking if they could read the magazines.

The only problem is, every child wants to take them home! The magazines were designed for student interaction and to be used by individual students where they can color and write on their magazine and then take it home to show their parents. Unfortunately, I only have 12 magazine subscriptions and 50 students, so that isn't possible.

With your help and donations, I can order a full set of classroom magazines to keep my students excited about not only reading fictional stories but also reading non-fiction material and learning about things that are happening in the world around them. I'm sure you have a magazine or newspaper you love to read, why not help my students experience the same thing?
