My Students

Make a musical difference in our multicultural school. Enable 5 year olds to learn to appreciate the sound of music through learning to play the violin.

Our school is a public charter school in the city of New York.

My students are diverse both ethnically and as human beings. They are lingual in many languages and bring varied cultures to our classroom family. Our school standards are high, and my students learn a second language while learning to read and write in English. We value arts education and encourage both visual arts and music in any way we can. We provide many opportunities for our students to explore the creative world.

My Project

It is my own personal goal to enhance arts education and expose my students to a world beyond their neighborhood borders. It is with this motivation that I am making the request for violins. Presently, we have a music teacher who is capable of providing violin instruction, but due to fiscal constraints we are unable to budget for these instruments. Using the violin as a tool to explore the language of music will open the door to world culture and give my students the opportunity for self expression.

Sometimes we forget that human beings are talented in many ways.

Often we focus on the academic subjects and forget the arts. Music can help reach those students who are sometimes "hidden" in the classroom, and allow them the chance to be successful.
