Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a third-grade bilingual teacher to 22 of the most amazing students. Every day my students come to my classroom eager and ready to learn. My students enjoy learning and reading. They all come from a low income background and English is their second language. Our school is one of the biggest elementary schools in the district and we are a Title I school.
My students are creative, great thinkers, and always eager to learn new concepts.
In order for me to ensure my students' success I have decided to have a purpose for their hard work in writing. Earlier this year, they researched about a public figure they admire. Their research will help them put together a writing composition about their person as well as doing their own illustration. My students will be participating in a writing program through a company called Student Treasures Publishing, in which they will put their writing pieces together and end up with a classroom book.
My Project
Our class needs help with the purchase of copies of a book created by the students. My students will be writing a book about public figures that they admire. Some of the people they picked are: Rosa Parks, Helen Keller, Derek Jeter, Sonia Soto Mayor, Michelle Obama, and others who have impacted our communities in a positive way.
This book will help them academically in different subject areas such as reading, writing, social studies, and most importantly to become better members of our society.
The book will be a motivational tool to do their best, show their creativity, and to build pride and confidence.
Thank you for taking the time to read our project.
