This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are struggling readers and writers. As their teacher, I would like our classroom to have enough reading material that is at their reading levels. My goal is to expose them to great literature that will motivate them to learn how to write stories like many famous authors do.
My students are working hard to reach their goals this year.
They are participating in a reading intervention program called Language! that promises to empower them with the tools they need to become readers. We are all working hard and hope to fill in as many learning gaps as possible.
My Project
The books I requested for my class will be used to do an author study. Students will read these stories and analyze the story elements the authors use to make the plot come alive. They will engage in conversations and figure out the theme of the stories, find important character traits, hunt for figurative language, and analyze the authors' writing style. Students will also write summaries and learn how to compose proper responses to theme related questions.
Engaging in this project will allow my students to read better and become great authors.
I know they will have fun too. I am confident they will grow into motivated readers and writers.
