My Students

I teach in a school in Brooklyn where 50% of the students receive free lunch. My class has twenty two kindergarten students who love learning. My students are creative and curious and I want kindergarten to be a wonderful experience for them. They love to come to school and they like to explore, ask questions, solve problems and work on projects. I teach an Intergrated Co-teaching class in which half of the students have special needs. In a special needs classroom it is challenging to accommodate the varying levels of ability and paces of learning so I need the right materials for all of my students.

My Project

Do you remember how much fun it was to get your hands dirty and create fabulous art projects?

My students will be studying families and communities.

I would like them to use paint, paper, and collage materials to do art projects in which they create pictures. I believe that art projects give students with different learning styles more ways to learn. I think that incorporating art in all of our content areas is essential. It provides students with rich and enjoyable experiences that support them in expressing personal ideas and meanings.

In an early childhood classroom, it is important to support students' artistic development.

I want to create an environment in which I can foster my students' creativity. Having these materials will help me to set up art projects that support all learning areas
