My students need an indoor/outdoor painting easel, newsprint, paint cups and brushes, and some paint aprons to use both inside and outside our classroom.

My Students
Young artists are in need of help! Art is an an essential component in early childhood development. Painting is a way in which children can explore the visual arts, express themselves and learn academic concepts as well.
My students are sweet three, four and five-year-olds with special needs.
They attend a special education program in Nevada, at a Title I school. They have been labeled as having developmental delays in the cognitive, social/emotional, physical, self-help and/or language areas.
In addition, my students will be sharing these materials with our other preschool classes. One is a Title I preschool program and one is a special program for preschoolers and kindergarteners on the autism spectrum.
My Project
A four way rolling easel and basic painting supplies will enable my students to express themselves through paint, both inside and and outside the classroom. We will have an easel available during choice time inside the classroom, so that four children can participate at a time. During outdoors time, we will pull the easel outside and have it available, so that children from all three of the preschool classes in my school can have access to these materials.
Children benefit from opportunities to work with different kinds of art materials.
By providing these materials to preschoolers with special needs, we will enable them to develop an understanding of the world and express themselves.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
