This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember a special art teacher who made you a more confident artist? How about a famous artist who can't remember? My students lack confidence in their artistic talents, but they haven't tried Artist Trading Cards yet!

I am the art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.

We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.

My Project

I am requesting paper, laminating pouches and binder clips to create, protect and store artist trading cards. With these materials, I will be able to inspire my students to create their own miniature works of art in the form of Artist Trading Cards. These 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" cards are just the right size for my students to complete successfully and imaginatively. With these supplies my students can create trading cards for years to come!

Artist Trading Cards will help my students learn about famous artists for years to come.

They will be able to learn about different media to make their cards and different ways of presenting their cards. My students and I can't thank you enough if you would help us with this project. Any amount will help. Thank you!
