One of the best books about slavery in Africa is titled The Kidnapped Prince by Olaudah Equiano. It is a story about a young boy who was taken away from his family in Benin Africa and his adventures aboard ships that sailed up and down the east coast of the United States.
One of the reasons I like the kids to read this book because it's true. Other reasons are an education can help you improve your life's situation no matter how bad off you think you are.
