Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a classroom filled with little kids eager to learn but do not always have the resources to help them reach their full potential. I teach students with special needs and this means that I must always be flexible with finding different ways of teaching. This could mean I need to use technology, playing equipment, manipulatives, and even things such as different writing utensils (ex. markers, pencils, pens, and even chalk).
The success of my children is my biggest inspiration!
I hope for them to have as many experiences as they can because some may never be able to experience things outside of school.
My Project
We will use these fun manipulatives in my reading small groups. We hope to have children smiling and having fun learning.
Using fun tools like magic boards, magnetic letters and tactile letters provides students with a concrete object to manipulate while we are learning these more abstract concepts.
Children think we are playing, but we can use these tools to reinforce phonological awareness concepts!! Yay for reading!
Phonological awareness is a crucial piece of literacy instruction. Many students are missing this piece. We will practice these skills to strengthen phonological awareness and work toward becoming proficient readers!
