Everyone loves to play. My students are no different. We incorporate games and partner activities into every subject in our classroom. Not only can games help students practice important skills but they can also help teach valuable life skills. This is our goal in everything we do.
My students are a ball of energy that need to be constantly in motion.
Centers and games help them attend to multiple subjects while staying within their attention span. They enjoy being able to work with their classmates and play the games that are incorporated into each activity. When my students play they also play hard. This has caused some of our materials to become extremely worn and fragile. New games will allow students to continue to practice newly learned skills all the while allowing them to practice working together.
My Project
Materials will go directly into our center rotation for both our Reading and Math centers. This will include the games Sum Swamp, Zingo, and Head Full Of Numbers. The other materials, such as the Peaceable Kingdom cooperative learning games, Sorry! and the floor puzzle will be added to our gaming bookshelf. This bookshelf includes activities that students use during indoor recesses as well as any down time that arises. Some of these materials are also used during our class meetings where we discuss how to work together, problem solving strategies as well as review key concepts. Each game will be taught and explained first. We will then demonstrate how to play it as a class before it is put into use for partner choice. The Osmo learning systems will be used during whole class instruction, centers, recess, and brain breaks.
My students have a thirst for information and fun.
By donating to this project you are helping to put materials into their hands. Not only will their learning be greatly affected but so will the atmosphere of our room. These students play hard and learn by hands-on activities. Please help us increase and continue their learning by donating materials that will help us learn to work together.
