You LIGHT Up Our Lives!

My students need 6 sets of hands-on experiments to study the basic properties of light.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Radway's classroom raised $306

My Students

Help us LIGHT up our lives! We are studying the basic properties of light and have no hands-on materials to aid our learning. With this complex topic, it is extremely important for my students to be able to experiment with light rather than just reading information from a textbook.

I teach in a high poverty, high need community.

Students in my classroom come from homes where parents are working multiple jobs just to make ends meet. They are helping out around the house with daily adult chores rather than being able to live the lives of kids and exploring their world. School is a place where my students come to explore the world around them and is often the only safe place in their lives. They need school to be a place to explore their world hands-on in order to engage them in learning and for information to stick with them long-term.

My Project

The materials for this project will allow for my students to set up, conduct, and analyze experiments to apply the knowledge about light that they have learned from their reading. Because this unit is the first exposure my students have to the basic properties of light, it is extremely important for them to see how these complex concepts work. Through a guided discovery students will learn how light impacts their lives in a variety of ways.

These materials are very important to my students in order to change an otherwise dull topic of technical reading into something exciting and relevant to their lives.

The experiments allow my students to put their worries behind them and dive right into the science that surrounds them day after day. Please help us to LIGHT up our learning by donating to this project!
