My Project

My students are amazing learners. We are a small but mighty school with less than 300 students. Our students are enthusiastic about learning and learn best through movement and visuals.

My students get so excited when we use puppets to practice our SEL skills.

The problem is that I don't have enough puppets for each student. Imagine trying to get a class of 25-30 students to practice a skill using 8 puppets. It can be challenging. I try to call on as many students as I can to practice. However, the ones who did not get called on often feel left out.

I would love to have more puppets in my collection so that all students can be a part of the lesson. It would also allow me to assess even more students to see if they learned the skill. Especially for my Pre-K and kindergarten kiddos who are still developing their writing skills. Kinesthetic learning coupled with oral assessments is key.

I have found that our students are more engaged when they are actively involved in the SEL lesson. By utilizing more puppets in my lesson, MORE students will get the SEL skill practice through role play and dramatic play. This will help them learn critical social emotional skills in a fun and engaging way.
