You can't stop the beat! I am a creative arts, dance and music teacher in a special needs high school. My students range in age from 14-21 as well as their ability. I have very high functioning students, able to work on their own, to students who are in wheelchairs and unable to do anything on their own.

My students like music, it is what moves them. Although many students love music, a lot would like to play the music themselves. Being that some students are limited to what they can and cannot do, the drums will enable them to use their hands in order to follow patterns, which will then lead to forming rhythmic beats, and soon their own music. I would like to have my students be confident in themselves. If they can follow simple directions while having fun, like making beats on a drum, when they return to the classroom, they will be able to associate what they learned/heard on the drums, to actual classroom directions, confidently!

We need 9 hand drums that our students will use during our music class once a week. Students will get the chance to show their ability in following simple orders, like Simon Says, just using their hands and a drum. They will become more musically inclined as well as be able to positively show their talent to the rest of their classmates and family members.

Your donation will enable my students to confidently focus on using their abilities to their advantage, instead of focusing on their weaknesses. Every person is different, every person learns differently, so why not give every student an equal chance to show their learning style?
