This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I hold an after-school sewing club and we recently received funding for several sewing machines. My students were so excited to begin creating pillows, pouches, and scrunchies on "real machines". We got started quickly and immediately realized that there were some necessary extras that were just missing.

Seam rippers, extra needles, a pressing mat, and fabric bundles are some of the basic necessities of a successful sewing club.

My students have shown a deep passion for sewing and I know that their love for this valuable life skill will only grow stronger as we continue creating.
