This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school that is located in a diverse, low socio-economic neighborhood in the Bay Area. I have 20 eager to learn kindergarten students this year. They enter my classroom every day enthusiastic and excited to learn. My goal is to have a classroom that fosters a love of learning and a wide variety of skills and knowledge.
Kindergarten students love to explore, discover, and be creative and they need the proper equipment to support their learning.
I want my students to have the materials necessary to foster not only STEM learning, but STEAM learning and to learn in ways they haven't experienced before.
My Project
All of my students are eager to learn and explore the world around them. The materials I am requesting will help me create a space where my students can go to experience art/music by creating and keeping beats and rhythm to educational songs that I play during math and science time. The dinosaurs and animal figures will help me create a fun learning environment when we learn about animals in our animals science unit. For example, students learn about different types of animals, how they interact with each other, predator vs. prey, different living environments, environmental needs to survive, and much more.
Kindergarten is most often a child's first experience with school and it is extremely important to provide students with new experiences and expose them to may ways of learning and exploring.
