I am a fourth year teacher and teach first grade at a Title One school. 77% of students enrolled at our school are on Free/Reduced Lunch. My first graders love science and math but we have minimal supplies. My students lack learning kits and manipulatives for science and math centers.
I have eighteen first grade students who come from a variety of backgrounds.
My students LOVE learning math and science, but I have very minimal science and math materials. The students would be so grateful to receive science centers and math manipulatives that they could work on daily at their own level. I have two students who speak English as a second language. These hands on materials would be a blessing for them as well as my other kinesthetic learners who learn best through hands on materials. These materials can also quench their thirst to explore careers in the science and math fields.
My Project
I am requesting science and math centers which students can work at in small groups. These centers would be used daily. They cover the specific Sunshine State Standards that are required for first grade. Instead of just reading about plants and bugs, they can touch and explore them with kits. These 12 math and science kits, such as Add a Frog Math and Real Bugs Discovery Kit, will be used daily during centers by my first grade students this year and for years to come!
This project is so important to me because I love seeing my students so enthusiastic and eager to learn science and math.
Please help provide these deserving students science centers and math materials. Your donation is helping to inspire these young people to explore the wonderful world of science and math. These materials will be taken care of and used for years to come. Your donation will help hundreds of kids. Thank you!!
