Help me give my students magnetic math activities and light table manipulatives to build number concepts and ultimately financial literacy.

My Students
My young students are enthusiastic, eager to learn, and benefit from hands-on play to keep them engaged and motivated. Our class consists of preschoolers with disabilities, as well as children from low income homes, ages three to five years old. Many of my young students have a limited understanding of number concepts and, naturally, financial literacy. They come to school each day eager to try new things and practice skills which allow each one to grow socially and academically. New hands-on activities are met with smiles and laughter, which adds joy to their learning.
Our school is a Title l School, which consists of over 83% free and reduced lunch.
We are located in Florida, where many of our families often struggle to find employment and opportunity.
Each child absolutely loves learning, although the method in which they learn best vary greatly. Every child needs engaging and hands-on activities to understand and deepen his or her understanding of early math concepts, which is the foundation for financial literacy.
My Project
Young children need to be exposed to math concepts as early as possible! My students are preschoolers beginning to grasp early math concepts such as more and less, number recognition, counting, and patterning. Eighty-three percent of the children in our school receive free or reduced lunch, consequently, we are a Title I school.
The materials in this project will enhance my students’ math skills through highly engaging and interactive activities, thereby creating a foundation for financial literacy.
The number puzzles, giant tracing letters, and stencils will help them with number recognition, fine motor skills, and counting. The math activity tins and the number comparison kit will reinforce early math concepts, such as more and less. The cash register will provide opportunities to play with money, interact with others, while building on basic number concepts, the beginning of financial literacy.
While learning these beginning math concepts, I will teach my students about how money is used to make purchases, while making good choices based on needs and wants. Thank you for your help and contribution to this project. I am counting on contributions from donors like you, so I can teach my preschoolers to Count On It!
