My Students

Help! Our green room is in shambles and the drama club kids can't get to their things!

We are a middle school drama / speech department serving grades 6 - 8.

Our Title I school district is in a high-risk community where most students are minority and low-income. Though our students struggle at times to succeed, they are passionate, imaginative kids who deserve the chance to experience a creative learning environment.

My Project

We have a small room on the stage where we store all of our theatre equipment. Lights, props, paints, costumes, set pieces, etc. all get stored in this tiny room. In the past, we have also used this room we use as a green room (waiting room) during performances. Right now, this room is a disaster. There are only a few narrow shelves to place props and lights on. Most things are placed on the the floor so that they don't fall or break the little shelves. The kids cannot even enter the room to look for items when they need them. Important items have been lost or broken. My students need 2 sets of shelves and a set of storage boxes.

If we had some heavy duty shelves to organize our things, we could get all of our items up off the floor and make the room a more safe, usable environment for the theater students and not just a dumping ground for all of our things.
