My Students
Put yourself in the shoes of a 16 year old in 2012. How has life changed? What kind of support would you need in order to succeed? What would it take for you to LOVE school?
At CVCHS our strength is in our diversity, in our refusal to accept mediocrity, and in our dreams of giving every student the education they need to succeed in the 21st Century.
I teach U.S History to Juniors and World History to Sophomores. My students represent a true cross section of our community. They are learning how to interact with their world as they get their first jobs, driver's licenses, and visit colleges. I strive to create a supportive classroom environment that sharpens their knowledge and skills while helping students better understand our country and our world.
My Project
There is perhaps no better classroom management strategy than simply being where your students are. In many classrooms, the front row benefits most from being close to the teacher while the students in the less accessible places are more likely to lose focus and miss out on learning. I am requesting the Gyration Air Mouse & Keyboard Combo because I believe that this will be a great tool to help my students learn. The Air Mouse isn't simply a laser pointer or slide advancer. It functions as a mouse from anywhere in the classroom. You don't even have to be on a flat surface. During a lesson, students will have more access to the teacher since the teacher isn't tethered to the desktop computer anymore - allowing students to ask questions, get feedback, receive encouragement, and stay focused on learning. I envision using the Air Keyboard during writing lessons. Students can type their examples (thesis statements, historical evidence, etc) directly onto the screen from their desk.
Your donation will help more students leave my classroom confident in their understanding of the day's lesson and better able to show their understanding on tests.
