it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'd like to start by saying that DonorsChoose is such an amazing platform for teachers and I am so grateful for it, especially now. There are so many good people in the world. Our students are struggling during this new normal. They don't have much to begin with and now this entirely new world to them is truly a challenge. As much as we try to give back to our community (my own community) you always feel like you can do more. You always want to do more. They deserve it. They didn't ask for this new way of life and it truly took us by surprise. When we walked out those doors on March 14th, we never thought it would be the last time we were together in 2nd grade and if that's heartbreaking for me, I know 20 little hearts are devastated so thank you. For being here. For being you. We appreciate you more than you know.
My Project
I would like to be able to give my students a little bag of sunshine on these challenging days. We have 2 months of remote learning left and beyond that, some students will be heading into a remote learning summer program. I want them to have a few items at home that they can use to help support their education. Teaching remotely and using technology every day, I would love for them to be able to have some basic supplies to support their learning and remind them of the comforts of school. They deserve that and so much more but this is a great start. I would give them the so much more if I could. They are such a great group of little brave hearts.
