My Students

"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." -Malcolm X

With the situation of our world today, I want to be able to help my students prepare for a future where they believe in themselves, no matter where they are.

My school is designated as Tile I due to the low social-economic level of the population. Because of this, all of my kindergarteners qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students are Limited English speaking. Although my students are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged, they deserve the same opportunities to enhance their learning as anyone else.

My Project

During this unprecedented time, the expectations for online learning are difficult for kindergartners. They require an extra amount of motivation in order to keep their attention. Even so, my students are happy and eager to learn! I would like to engage my students more, by using literature and art projects in our distance learning program to help facilitate social-emotional development in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

The children are our future so please help to create a more tolerant and loving world through the next generation.

I will incorporate the books and art projects into my current curriculum to explore different cultures and help my students enhance their understanding of diversity, kindness and acceptance.

With the Multicultural World Library set and the Social Studies library set I will be able to bring different cultures and ethnicities into my virtual classroom. I will encourage my students to discuss and share new insight of the world beyond their previous understandings. I will use the Animals Up Close books to show them that even animals are a diverse species. To support their new learning, the students will participate in doing art projects using the craft paper, markers and journals. With the journals, the students will write about what they have learned.
