This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in our class are a great group of children. Despite all of their learning disabilities or emotional disturbances, they are enthusiastic about reading and learning new things.

Our students have demonstrated a great interest in reading and listening to stories.

Even though this is an ICT 3rd grade class, the levels in reading range from first grade level to the end of third grade level.

It broke my heart last week when we were talking about cultures and families and some students had a difficult time sharing information about their families. We have students of various languages and ethnic backgrounds but they all have one thing in common... they all love to listen to stories.

My Project

Students are many times treated differently because of their disabilities, delays, speech impediments, or because they have an IEP and receive extra services.

I want the students in my class to learn that they can all learn together if they see what is the same between them and not what is different about them.

The books that I have chosen will allow me to implement tolerance and acceptance in my classroom. The students will be introduced to topics that include acceptance, caring, compassion, respect, friendship and fairness. By modeling appropriate behaviors, my goal will be to create a community of students that can learn together and accept each other.
