My students come in every day ready to work hard. We need a break throughout the day to focus, relax, and get our minds back on track. A short yoga time in the middle of each day will help us redirect our minds and bodies.
My class is made up of a variety of students from all over our city.
We work hard, play hard, and learn all day. My students are bright and work hard to achieve at a high level. Most of my students are seven and turn eight during the school year. Our school is in the heart of the largest city in our state. We work hard all day to master the skills we need to move onto the next grade. My students stay busy in whole group, small group, and individual activities. A yoga break would help us transition from one activity to another. When students are relaxed they will learn more.
My Project
We are requesting yoga books, cards, and DVDs. We will work at our regular high level each day. During the day we will take several small short yoga breaks. Students will move to the area near their desks and we will take our yoga break. The yoga DVDs purchased will be kept in computer a connected to the SMART Board so we can simply take a yoga break. After a few yoga poses we will move back to our academic activities. The yoga breaks will help my students stay focused, calm, relaxed, and on task. The yoga songs and games book will be used to transition students when we are moving to other areas of the building, moving to lunch or support classes, and taking our whole group restroom breaks.
Your donation to Yoga in the Class Keeps Everyone on Task will help my students integrate yoga into our daily activities.
The materials purchased will be used year to year with every class I teach. The students in my class will be more relaxed and calmer which will encourage more learning. Incorporating yoga into our education will help all active students to focus. Building a strong foundation during early elementary school makes life long learners.
