Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are ELD, meaning that English is a second language for all of them. I teach at a Title I school where every child qualifies for the free lunch program.

My students love to learn and want so badly to been seen as the same as every other child at the school.

They love to use math tools, create their own stories and share their learning with others. My students have been apart of the ELD program for their entire school careers, my goal is to get them reading, writing and learning actively everyday. However that has been difficult for them due to the extended amount of time they have spent feeling less than the rest of the students their age.

My Project

My students are very active and often times refuse to sit in their seat. I find it very difficult to teach them when they are so distracted by not paying attention, walking around the classroom and constantly playing. I feel as though having the students have to focus on their seat, they will concentrate more and focus when they are learning.

This project requests twenty-eight Fitness Balls.

I personally provided one of my most active students with one yoga ball, and now all my other students are requesting to have a seat similar. I would love to be able to buy a Fitness Ball for every student, but that just is not feasible at this time. It takes a village.
