My students need basic classroom supplies and organizational materials that the school is not able to purchase due to budget cutbacks in the district.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Save my classroom! With state budget cutbacks effecting education so severely, my students are suffering. Instructional materials are at an all time low!
I teach at a small inner-city school in one of the toughest, gang-ridden and poorest neighborhoods in southern California.
At one point in time, we were the 2nd lowest performing school in one of the largest school districts in the country. The student population is 90% Hispanic and 10% African American. The percentage of English Language Learners is 75%. All students participate in the free school lunch program.
My students are very bright and extremely motivated. Unfortunately, minimal parent involvement and difficult home situations are common. Nonetheless, I try to be an integral part of each and every one of my students lives, caring for them unconditionally.
My Project
I am requesting basic classroom supplies such as copy/printer paper, art markers, whiteboard markers and erasers and printer ink. In addition to this, I am also requesting various classroom organizational materials such as desk bins/baskets and a 30 compartment shelf. With the supplies I am requesting, I will be able to provide my students with the activities they need to be successful in all subject areas, reading, writing, math, science, social students and art. In addition to this, students will be able to use the classroom printer for research and writing projects. Also, they can present this work to their peers and I will never have to tell the kids that they cannot print their work because we have no ink and paper. In addition to this, students will be able to organize their materials and create more workspace at their tables. They will also have separate, personal compartments they can call their own to store other items.
Your donation will ensure that my students receive effective instruction that, unfortunately, the school is not able to provide due to budget cutbacks.
My students will have classwork and homework on a daily basis and will never be denied access to the classroom printer because there is no ink. Students will also have their own private space to keep their tables neat and organized. By donating to this project, you will ensure academic success for my students!
