My students need book bins to eliminate the frustration of them finding and returning books. There is nothing more rewarding then watching and listening to a child read.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Nelson's classroom raised $192

My Students
Wonderful, diverse, and driven are three adjectives I would use to describe my students! I work with English Language Learners (ELLs) in second grade, which is approximately 30% of our school population.
My ELL students are happy, strong, and resilient.
Some have just arrived to the United States and are not only learning English but are also adjusting to a new culture. My ELL students work extremely hard. Some are literate in their first language and are emergent readers in English. All students are working on developing academic language, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
My Project
It can be very frustrating for them to pick a book off of a bookshelf and they can't read it. I would like to provide book bins to keep the books organized and label the genres with a picture. They will each have a spot where they can go to get a "just-right" book. A "just-right" book is a book in which the student knows all but a couple of words and they are able to read the book independently. Each opportunity they get to read a "just-right" book will help them to become a more fluent reader and very successful.
The book bins will help the classroom transition during independent reading time because the students will not be digging through shelves of books to find a "just-right" book.
