My Project

In my classroom, I have a reward system that incorporates financial literacy as part of our social studies curriculum. Children earn play pennies for everything from doing their work completely to being helpful and responsible. Once a week, the children will take their play pennies to my Lunee Bank to exchange their play pennies for nickles, dimes, and quarters. After going to the Lunee Bank, the children will then go to the Lunee Store to make logical decisions on how to spend their nickles, dimes, and quarters.

Financial literacy is an important life skill that should start early in every child's life.

Children in my kindergarten class learn the value of pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters. They learn the difference between a need and a want item from the Lunee Store.

Earning money teaches the children to budget for an item in the Lunee Store, and they learn to save vs spend. This is an interactive activity that has been going on in my classroom for many years now. Please help me replenish the Lunee Store for my students.
