My Project
Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Year of the Dragon to you! Please help me provide fun, traditional supplies to decorate with my students so that we can celebrate the new year. In this project, I have included fun, colorful decorations and a traditional tea set for the class to try a cup of traditional tea together. Every year, we invite our the lion dance performers to help us celebrate the Lunar New Year. Students learn about the Asian culture and Lunar New Year traditions. We study the symbols, lunar calendar, and performing arts.
Our school loves this beautiful tradition and I love to share it with our community.
After the Lion Dance, students will parade around in their traditional red and gold colors, making as much noise as they can to ring in the Year of the Dragon and then have a cup of tea and moon cakes. Every student will receive a red envelope and tassel charm to enjoy all year with their family. Finally, students will use the marble maze to build a giant bridge like the Great Wall of China!
