it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My pre-k scholars are made up of diverse likes and dislikes. These scholars are beginning to build their foundations and building blocks for their ongoing school careers. During this time students should have multiple options so they can explore and create.
The help of funding this project will allow me to amp and beef up the centers during free choice time.
A unit that will be coming up is the unit on community helpers and we know as teachers that the community is the first place that scholars start to learn self. Having in the centers items they are used to seeing will help them feel comfortable to bring their community from the outside to their safe space inside the classroom by using items such as the mailbox, having a vet center, a tool kit, and doctor office. We are a play-based learning center and students get a chance to explore the different centers to see what they are interested in. Those centers range from math, science, puzzles, art, dramatic play, music, library, and so on. The students are used to seeing these items and I would like to be able to give the students a few different materials and utilize some items that although fun in appearance it can help me assist those students who need a little extra support in areas such as color and letter recognition.
