My Students
I teach Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences courses at a large urban high school. I have three levels of courses through PLTW that I teach (level 1, 2, & 4). These courses encourage students to become extremely independent and teach them a TON of lab-based, research, and employability skills. We are super hands-on and rarely have a traditional lesson!
Most of my students are interested in entering a medical or engineering profession after they graduate.
They are very motivated to succeed and I try my best to give them the tools so they can do that!
My Project
The students in my capstone course at school have elected to do a community service project as part of their curriculum this year. They want to learn how to knit and crochet so they can create a stockpile of scarves. We plan to donate some of the scarves to the care closet at school (where students can anonymously receive basic supplies when they are in need) as well as to a local homeless shelter. As winter nears, we are hopeful to get our supplies and start working so we are ready when the cold weather hits.
