Ya Got Any Candy? Middle School Rewards System 2025/2026

Help me give my students rewards to boost participation and involvement in classroom discussion. Rewards are also used for Student of the Month and Hall of Fame recipients.

My Project

Often times when asked what grade I teach, I get awful sighs, big eyes, and the occasional “bless your heart”. It is no surprise that middle school students get a bad rap for attitude and lack of motivation.

I have found in my classroom a rewards system of candy, snacks, and chips promotes heavy participation and involvement within my classroom discussions and projects, which leads to exemplar learning.

It also helps to build relationships by creating a homelike classroom. Kids of all ages and even adults love to work for a reward. My students may be moody at times, but they are mine and snacks help!
