Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Don't you remember how excited you were when you opened a book? My students love to read and now they have the opportunity to use literature to improve their writing skills. The books needed will help support our school's new writing program and teach the students how to be more proficient writers.

My students come to school everyday with a thirst for knowledge.

They are often upset when we do not have school because they love to learn. We are a Title 1, high poverty level school and many students do not have access to high quality literature. There is a high EL population and these students need access to books that will teach them new skills and reinforce vocabulary. However, many of the the students do not have the resources at home to continue their learning. The teachers in our school often spend their own money to purchase materials and resources for their students. We want to see our students succeed in all areas both academically and socially.

My Project

The books requested will help fulfill the needs of our school's writing program and support the 3rd graders in developing their writing. We do not currently have these books and they will be helpful in meeting the needs of all students. The teachers will use each of the books to teach students the steps for how to be a successful writer. By using these books, they will learn what good writing looks like, what details to include, how to extend their current writing, and much more. Third grade will have over 100 students in the coming year. Each teacher is excited to be equipped with these books to help their students develop a love of writing.

Now is the time to make a difference and provide the 3rd grade students with the materials they need to enhance their writing.

Your donations will help support our school's goal of providing the writing tools to help the students become proficient writers.
