Writing Using Authentic Literature Part 1

My students need 3 copies of 23 book titles, from "Chicken Sunday" to "Honey, I Love."

This project is fully funded

I am so excited to start the year in my elementary school classroom with writing. My class is composed of students from around the world: immigrants, refugees, and students with a variety of needs. The only problem is that I don't have the authentic books needed to support my writing instruction. I believe that all students can be good writers and that writing is the avenue to express deep meaning in our lives and share our experiences with others. I want my students to be able to do this by studying exemplary mentor texts to guide their learning through quality instruction. I will use these titles to model the writer's craft in lessons, and students will use them to support their learning. Students will learn to write in different genres using these models for support. I believe all students need to learn to write authentically and using books as models is key to this type of instruction. All students can learn and all students have a voice. Please help me get their voices and storied lives on paper!
