My Students

I teach 20 students in a Title 1 school in New York City. I have students who are 100% remote and are receiving live zoom instruction daily. My students vary in academic needs, preferences, and are all eager to learn. In our Kindergarten classroom, we are constantly putting pen to paper and exploring our writing capabilities! We are working virtually through zoom to learn how to think, draw, and write about various topics like Fall, pumpkins, special items, and holidays.

My students are eager to explore the world of writing in Kindergarten!

We are able to brainstorm ideas, and learn about writing techniques together. But I notice my students are not able to easily get their writing down while looking for paper, drawing picture boxes, and often get frustrated.

With your help, I will be able to provide students with literacy skills and strategies intended for small group, whole group, and independent practice throughout the day. I would be so grateful for your assistance as I transform my practices and classroom for students!

My Project

We will use the notebooks everyday in writing. Each student needs about two notebooks. As we explore narrative, opinion, informative, and persuasive writing, we need a consistent system and structure to save our working pieces!

A notebook and whiteboard for each student will allow students to have a consistent structure for their writing time on zoom.

. We will use white boards to practice sight words and letter formation. With notebooks, we can organize all of our writing! My students needs primary notebooks that allow them to illustrate, label, and write about various topics with designated spaces to draw and write. As emergent writers, it is important that I inspire the love of writing in my students, and I ensure they can easily find a place to jot their brilliance down!

As we are working virtually, it can be hard to manage our writing paper and often we are hindered by the process of finding out work
