Writing Tools For a Busy School

My students need pencils, pencil grips, and eraser caps for their creative writing in the classroom. Supplies get lost, misplaced and extra time is taken up in finding needed items.

My Students

Do you know that many students have great ideas to write about but spend extra time looking for a sharpened pencil and an eraser. Many times the pencils that are brought into school do not sharpen well, the lead breaking as the pencil is sharpened. And then the sharpener, they often break down.

My students are special education students, at risk students and the general population in the school.

Many times I will provide a pencil grip to a struggling student only to find that there are 6 more students in the classroom that could also benefit from just a pencil grip. How wonderful it would be if more students were given a simple thing (pencil grip) to encourage more creative writing. Handwriting is the road to a child's mind. A teacher can see the progress that a student makes by what they write down. Many of the pencils in the school do not sharpen well. Sharpeners are breaking down. The erasers are all worn out on top of the pencil and there are many tired hands. Keep the writing going by donating to this important cause.

My Project

I am ordering various pencil grips to provide an appropriate tripod grip. This grip is the preferred grip to write with. A pencil Grip allows the fingers to spread out and hold the pencil correctly. Ticonderoga pencils are amazing. The lead does not break apart when sharpening the pencil. A heavy duty pencil sharpener to keep the pencils sharpened and working. Erasers to help with the little mistakes and keep the thought process going for our students. Larger pencils for special ed students and young students to grip the pencil and work towards forming their letters correctly. Simple supplies, and without them, the writing process is broken and students do not get enough time and practice to do their best work.

I want to make a difference for the students at my school.

Having extra supplies around will keep the students working on creative writing instead of looking for a sharpened pencil, an eraser and having a tired hand. Pencil grips are amazing at how a simple device can form a child's hand to an appropriate grip of a pencil. A simple item that can make such a big difference for the developing hand of an elementary grade student.
