Writing through Play-doh

My students need play doh and crayons for tactile learners. Not all children can learn visually. Some students require hands on learning. My kids need crayons too.

My Students

My students are amazing little people. They do not always have the funds necessary to purchase supplies like crayons in order to learn in the classroom. They need various centers in order to learn and have fun while doing it. Bringing color and tactile learning into the classroom is exciting.

Children in Kindergarten love to learn.

They are often able to learn more through the practice of play. My kids love to use Play-doh to learn, we have run out. Play-doh is a fun way for my kids to get involved in their learning and create. Creativity allows for them to remember the shapes of letters, numbers, and shapes. It is a great way to help embed the foundations that they need as beginning readers and writers.

My Project

The resources that will be purchased are various crayons and play doh. The students will be able to use these resources while learning how to write sight words, letters, numbers, and model shapes. Tactile learners need products like these to help them learn. Visual learning is not for all. These products let the children mold and then see the work. Feeling the shapes as they make them help to embed the knowledge in their memory. Please help give them the support they need in the classroom. I know this will make a difference for many of my students. Differentiation is essential for our young learners.

My students will not only be learning but having fun as they do it.

Many students remember more of what goes on during the day when it is memorable. Using crayons and Play-doh allows them to make connections to the curriculum and in turn they love learning. Together we can help them enjoy their first year of learning.
