Writing Supplies for Low-Income Special Needs Scholars

My Project

My students are bright, creative, and eager to learn—despite the challenges they face every day. We are a Title I school where many families struggle to provide basic supplies, and our classroom includes several students with special needs who thrive with structure, visual aids, and a sensory-friendly environment.

To support their growth as writers and communicators, I’m hoping to create a calm, comfortable, and engaging writing center in our classroom.

We need dry erase boards, whiteboards, Expo markers and storage, and cozy floor pillows to make this space inviting and functional.

These tools will allow students to brainstorm, draft, and revise their writing in a hands-on, low-pressure way. The whiteboards provide a visual and kinesthetic learning opportunity that helps my special needs students stay focused and express themselves more freely. The pillows will give them a comfortable space to sit and write, helping them feel safe and supported.

Your support will help transform a corner of our classroom into a creative and comforting space where all students—especially those with special needs—can grow as writers and build confidence in their voice.
