Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 20 second grade students are eager, happy and ready to learn. We have built a strong sense of community in our classroom, and they do their absolute best to help each other learn. It is beautiful to see the empathy, patience and grace they have with one another and me.
My Project
The letter tiles for this project will allow students to have a hands-on approach to phonemic awareness. This will allow students to work independently or with a partner. They will also be able to take the tiles home to reinforce what they are learning at school. Students will build their fluency, sight word recognition and comprehension of the way letters and sounds work while manipulating the tiles.
In turn, I hope this motivates students to take what they have learned and create stories in their mini-books.
I want them to know that they are authors. They will create stories in their books and share their stories with one another.
