My students are third graders at an elementary school. My 22 third graders come to school every day eager to learn and ready for a challenge. I love creating a classroom environment in which all students' needs are met. I engage students with a variety of learning strategies and alternative seating options to facilitate group work to help ensure that all students can reach their potential and learn 21st-century skills that will allow them to become meaningful contributors and leaders of our classroom and at our school.
My Project
The binders and Astrobright paper will help my students keep their writing organized. Throughout the year, we complete a variety of work including narratives, expository, and persuasive writing. Students work very hard throughout the year on each piece. They learn how to use the writing process as they brainstorm, draft, edit, revise, and publish their work. Students will enjoy putting finished pieces of their writing in their portfolios. These portfolios will make it easier to track their growth throughout the year. Students will be so proud to share their collection of writing with their parents at Open House later in the year.
My hope is that these portfolios will encourage my students to become lifelong writers and help cultivate a love of writing.
