My Students
My school and students are as diverse both ethnically and linguistically as they come. They come from all over the world, many of them refugees to our elementary school.
Our kindergarten class is full of curious and motivated students.
They are enthusiastic and always ask brilliant questions to get to the bottom of problems. Our school is a dual language immersion program in both Spanish and Vietnamese so those language as well others are valued and encouraged in the classroom. Our kinder students are incredibly hardworking and generous people.
My Project
My Kinder kids are super writers. We have been working on sounding out words and writing them on our chalkboards as well as writing informational books teaching people how to do things.
We have old folders that are falling apart.
Instead of simply replacing the old folders with the same paper ones we were using, I would love to give my student a place to not only store their writing but also their alphabet charts and word walls so that they can access them quickly when they need help with a word.
The chalk that we are currently using to write words is about as big as a fingernail and we are in desperate need of replacement chalk.
