This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember worksheet after worksheet practicing your printing in school? Our students can use dry erase boards to practice their numbers, letters, words, and sentences. This is a more green and exciting way to teach printing and writing.
Our three Kindergarten classes contain 25 students each .
The three classes are composed of students of various abilities including bilingual, English language learners, and students with special learning needs. This is our first year as a full day Kindergarten. Our school is located in Illinois and our demographics are 85% Hispanic and 99% poverty.
My Project
In our Kindergartens our students come in at a variety of levels. This also goes along with a variety of learning styles and learning needs. Dry Erase boards make it easy to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. Students are motivated by the dry erase boards and find it a fun way to learn. Students will learn reading and math readiness skills. Along with improving their fine motor skills for printing. Throughout the year the skills grow from letters to sentences and numbers to equations. It is important to ensure this foundation for students to have a successful transition into First grade.
Making learning fun is essential in Kindergarten!
After ten years of teaching I can see the excitement in the students eyes when using dry erase boards verses paper. You will make a difference by making lessons more meaningful and motivational. Additionally you will help us do our part to be green. In this day and age we all need to do our part to be green.
