Writing Our Opinions In Kindergarten

My students need a hard drive and books to help us with our opinion writing.

My Students

My Kindergarten students all come from poverty.

My students all get free breakfast, free lunch, and a snack. For some of these students, this is the only food they get all day. Even though they may not have food at home they come to school ready to learn and wanting to learn. I want to help them as much as possible.

My Project

With the new common core standards, my Kindergarten students are asked to write a lot. In my school district, we have an amazing curriculum. However, I sometimes do not have all the tools I need to effectively do what I would like to do. The books that I am asking for will help my students begin to understand what opinions are and how they might become better writers. We will use these books to help formulate our own opinions. I am also asking for an external hard drive. Due to the amount of material we make for Kindergarten, I would like to be able to keep all my files for writing and reading in one place rather than 4 flash drives. This will help me become more organized.

We all have opinions especially young kids.

It is my job as an educator to find ways to help my students understand how to take their opinions and put them on paper. For my students who are Kindergartners, this is a beginning step. Please help us become better writers.
