This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first-grade students always come to school with a drive to learn despite any struggles they may have to overcome just to get to class. I personally believe first grade is the most important year for social, emotional, and academic growth. I don't want simple classroom tools to be a roadblock to their success. All kids should have the necessary tools and supplies for first grade. Unfortunately, many of my students do not come to school with all the supplies that they need. I want my first graders to be challenged by the curriculum not the lack of adequate supplies.

My Project

Writing is an integral part of getting students college and career ready. Creating a special writing center lets students know that writing can be as much fun as any other literacy-center activity. This mobile center will provide students with a fun and structured writing program at their seat, since space is very limited. Even though students write at their seat throughout the day, the mobile center shows up with new and exciting writing tools and paper. Students will have so much fun using the center that they probably won't want to pass it to the next group. The additional resources will help to ensure that Common Core standards are covered.
