My students need writing materials such as Post-It notes, binders to keep their works-in-progress in, colorful erasable pens to make it more fun, and sheet protectors to display their writing projects on the bulletin board.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are identified as having learning disabilities and/or are speech and language impaired, and therefore require individualized/group assistance.
We are located in a district considered below poverty level with an enormous amount of minority and English Language Learner-status students. Our school is located in one of the five boroughs of the city of New York. Teachers at this school care so much that we purchase as much as we can, but it can only go so far.
My Project
Writing can sometimes be a challenge for our special learners. The materials we're requesting will help them organize and later on display their writing projects on the class bulletin board.
The tools we're requesting will inspire our special learners to take chances and succeed!
Post-It notes are great for taking small notes on a topic and then transferring that information into writing. The color pens make it fun, yet mistake-friendly. The presentation binders can make the project stand out (not to mention the fact that they can be reused over and over again which will impact more than the 32 students currently in our class).
