This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These journals will help students reflect and process their emotions and learning. I want to allow students a safe and private place to reflect, set goals, and process learning and emotions. Recently I received a note from a student I had 24 years ago telling me how the journal writing we did in 6th grade became an outlet and it's since been a tool for him. I'd like to start doing it with my high school students
My goal is to have students learn about their strengths and opportunities.
I will give students daily prompts, as well as allow them space to write about what they need or want to write about. High school comes with a range of emotions and learning that students have a hard time processing. Many students have difficulty communicating verbally. Journaling can give them a place to be mindful of how their experiences and learning affects them. It can also help them work through challenging situations.
I'd like to provide all of my students with their own journal and provide them a productive outlet for processing feelings, summarizing learning and reflecting on their strengths.
