My Students
English Language Learners from diverse cultural backgrounds with a passion for learning are limited only by their mastery of the English language and the time it takes to master it. While this could describe all of the students in my school, it best describes the ESL population that I have the pleasure of working with.

My students are like most of the students within our school community with one major exception; they are all learning English, but their native language is Spanish.
Though it may sound simple, it is a very complex task to listen, speak, read, and write in a language that is new to you, especially when your family is limited in their ability to help you outside of school. Keep in mind, my students are doing this with the same expectations as the native English speaking students in their classes. Books, classwork, required testing, grades, report cards, recess, even lunch - in English. These awesome learners model perseverance daily as they seek academic growth and success!
My Project
For several years, I have been using a digital platform, Seesaw, to increase student engagement in listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. Incorporating individualized writing activities within Seesaw is my biggest challenge because my students struggle to use their finger or traditional styluses to write and often get frustrated.
Child friendly styluses will help my students complete writing activities with more control, detail, and ease and may add a little more fun and less frustration to our writing activities.
Writing is the most difficult skill for English Language Learners to master so help me make writing a little more "stylus" for my students!
