Writing In An Arts Infused Inquiry Based Classroom!
My students need paper, watercolors, art pencils and laminating pouches to save their work that they are proud of. Many of my students use art as an outlet for successful writing.
The arts are a powerful tool. Many kids find writing to be boring, yet when you allow them to right with colored pencils, on colored paper, etc. it breaths new life into an old story.
Writing is difficult for some children, after visiting many museums and collaborating with a visiting artist, this has changed the way my students address writing now.
My kids view real works of art and make a story of characters, plot lines, and so on just from inquiring and imagining the "story" in the painting. My students are able to discuss through Socratic seminar and collaborate with each other, their ideas. This allows for a profound story building session. This Arts Infused Inquiry Based learning has enabled my kids to become great writers and even more has given them confidence that they did not have before. The arts are an amazing outlet, that does not get tapped into often enough throughout a students life.
My Project
My students need paper, watercolors, art pencils and laminating pouches to save their work that they are proud of. Many of my students use art as an outlet for successful writing. My students will use the colored pencils, and the colored paper as another choice in which they will have to use when they have discussed and developed their stories. Using the trips to the museums, and Socratic seminars to discuss art work is only the first step in the development as writers. Many of my students enjoy using art themselves to express the passion or show the emotions of their characters. The paper choice adds a new level to the use of art in their writing process.
Donations to this project will improve my classroom by giving my kids choice and the chance to express their ideas in an out of the box way.
My students are all individuals, and it shows. Using Arts Infused Inquiry Based Learning continues to grow my students as writers. I hope to be able to gain more of the necessary materials from this project in order to allow for the process to continue in my classroom. My students will appreciate the opportunity that you have given them.
