My Project

I'm looking for opportunities to get students to focus on the GOOD things they DO have in their lives as well as to consider others' points of view through writing prompts, doodles, drawing, etc. One way to do this, is to write from the perspective of another person--a composer, an artist, a peer, as well as others of their same ages from different areas around the world!

On reflection of the perspectives and problems of others, students will be able to brainstorm possible solutions.

Once they've brainstormed solutions, then they can act! Whether it's brainstorming to have a bake sale to raise money for a child with cancer, or perhaps having a teacher-dunk tank to raise funds for another cause, students will be able to brainstorm ideas, plan them, and evaluate how they went.

Measuring success for students' understanding of compassion would be measuring their efforts in trying to help others. While students don't have funds themselves, their time and energy to help alleviate the suffering of others would show their empathy.
